Superior is currently seeking a Chemical Engineer to join our team at Reclaimed Energy, a solvent recycling facility located in Connersville, IN.
You will be part of our corporate engineering team with focus on Process Safety Management (PSM).
You will handle process engineering that will involve leading improvement efforts, providing key technical support to Superior staff in all departments, and promoting a strong safety culture.
Responsibilities include:
Facilitate the development and application of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program
Regularly communicate with production and maintenance personnel and collaborate in managements of change (MOC) relevant to their worksite
Perform hazard reviews for changes to equipment and procedures
Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)
Develop process safety information including P&IDs, isometric piping diagrams, safe operating limits, and venting calculations
Understand and apply RAGAGEP in all aspects of process design, installation, and maintenance
Ensure compliance with various safety regulations
Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
Coordinate regular compliance audits of the PSM program
Lead design, installation, and improvement of various processes including batch solvent distillation, blending, and packaging
Provide technical support regarding production to all departments
Assist in the development of safe standard operating procedures in both production and maintenance
Partner with the corporate engineering team to provide support on PSM for company as a whole
Occasional travel to other Superior facilities, <10%
Candidates should possess:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering preferred
0-5 years of experience in a production environment
Ability to clearly and concisely describe complex topics to unfamiliar staff
Strong critical thinking skills
Strong teamwork and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work and stay organized with limited direction
Must have effective verbal and written skills, enabling clear and strong interactions with co-workers, chemists, administrative staff, delivery personnel, and management.
