As a Maintenance Technician at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to continue to improve our safety, quality, and efficiency.
How? By performing preventative, routine, and emergency mechanical and/or electrical maintenance and providing effective troubleshooting, you are a huge part of ensuring operations are running effectively at all times.
How you’ll contribute to our company:
Preventative Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance to all plant machinery
Carry out the preventative maintenance program for the plant
Ability to accept and control maintenance operations and communicate non-compliance problems to supervisor for instruction
Identify and address safety concerns throughout the facility
Maintain general housekeeping and organization of the maintenance department and all equipment repair work areas
Minimize Downtime
Continuously review the operation of plant equipment and systems
Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner
Identify opportunities for improvement
Effective Troubleshooting
Must have knowledge and ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs through a quick and effective root cause analogy
Ability to accurately fill out documentation on work orders
Ability to perform emergency maintenance repairs to all plant machinery
Knowledge & Understanding
Knowledge of motor control systems, hydraulic systems, fire protection, and mechanical bearing systems
Knowledge of equipment installation
Ability to interpret blueprints to properly fabricate parts and equipment

Here’s what is needed to be successful:
Ability to correctly retrieve and input data in computer using Excel and CMMS System
Ability to successfully troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment/machinery
Strong mechanical industrial knowledge and basic electrical knowledge
Ability to operate motor control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, hoists, fire protection, and mechanical bearing systems
Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
Experience operating metal working tools such as grinder, band saw, drill press, welding equipment, etc.
A Mechatronics certificate is strongly desired but not required
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
